Nucleic Acids Quality Number

Fragment Analyzer PROSize software determines a RQN (RNA Quality Number) of total RNA on a scale from 1 to 10 that correlates to current industry practices (RIN).

For more information:  Comparison of RIN and RQN

DNA PEAK SIZE vs. SMEAR ANALYSIS

DNA size can be reported as a peak size or smear size. The peak size is the tallest/mot concentrated portion of the sample, while the smear size accounts for the entire distribution of the sample over the designated smear range.

Fragments and smears have different separation profiles on electropherograms. Fragments are displayed as sharp peaks, while smears are broader and lower in height than fragments with the same concentration.

DV200

For RNA FFPE samples, DV200 is a reliable predictor of successful RNA sequencing. More information, here.

On-Site Customers

Drop off samples in our lab by 4 PM on Monday for inclusion in that week’s processing schedule.

  • For DNA samples: Drop off samples at RT or with ice packs, if samples are frozen or at -80 dry ice is recommended.
  • For RNA samples: Drop off samples at PCTB G20 on dry ice.
  • Please follow all the instruction in iLab for sample submission and shipment.

Off-Side Customers

Ship samples to our lab to be received by Tuesday morning for inclusion in that week’s processing schedule.

  • For DNA samples: Ship at ambient temperature or with ice packs. If samples are frozen or at -80C, ship them on dry ice.
  • For RNA samples: Ship on dry ice.
  • Please follow all the instruction in iLab for sample submission and shipment.

Turnaround Time
