Abstract: At Thermo Fisher Scientific, our goal is to bring innovative new products and services that enable the development of more physiological relevant disease models to help accelerate the drug discovery process. Title: ‘Essential Tools for Fluorescence Microscopy and High Content’ Screening

Presenter: Mike Janes, Senior Staff Scientist, Molecular Probes™ Education

Abstract: High content screening offers robust, multi-parametric and scalable analysis of large numbers of cells in heterogenous populations with the benefit of spatial and temporal resolution afforded by fluorescence microscopy. This seminar will provide an overview of practical considerations for fluorescence labeling and detection, as well as newly developed probes and assays for various aspects of cell structure, health, and function using both traditional fluorescence microscopy and high content imaging and analysis. Some emphasis will be given to visualization of cell stress and death mechanisms, proliferation, and internalization, including tools for immuno-oncology applications in both 2D and 3D models.
